The foliage is coming in hard and fast this year. It seemed like there was very little difference at the Roof of Wrentham until just last week, and then boom! Everything took on a shade of red and yellow. The evergreens are starting to dry out a bit, and everything deciduous is burning bright in fall color until winter truly sets in.

The Roof of Wrentham is a special place. The kids have an area at the top of the rock where they can stretch their legs and just be free. This visit, Penny and Ben decided to make a nook on the right side of the rock into their house. So, they started work on the most important part: the couch/bed. They worked with Lizzie to gather pads of moss from the surrounding rock surface to reconfigure into a soft seating area, which they then laid down on.

Note Ben’s new tin mug from Diwali in the background. We had a quick dose of hot chocolate to revive our tired souls at the top.
On the way back down, we noticed someone had painted some white blazes on a few of the rocks. This was weird because we’d never noticed this before and it was definitely new since the previous time we’d been (10/9). The paint looked fresh, but we couldn’t figure out why there was one mark in one place and two marks in another.

Lizzie demanded a picture near the top, and who am I to deny the cuteness?
