A few weeks ago, we went with Grampy and Mimi to Adams Farm in Cumberland, RI. They are a working family farm with tons of old-fashioned play areas. One of the highlights was the water pump duck racing tracks. You have to pump the water to get your duck to float down to the other end, and the first duck to make it across the finish line wins!

Another area of interest were the rolling tubes: two huge corrugated pipes on tracks that you could push, or sit inside and try to roll by shifting your weight. The kids enjoyed it so much, we’re looking into building one in our backyard!

There were tons of areas to climb and horse around! Most were made out of farm refuse, extra wooden planks, tractor tires and a broken down tractor built into a climbing structure.

After some light refreshments and a quick boo-boo management session, we went back to the duck races, followed by a trip to the sandboxes.

Last but not least, we took some quarters and bought alpaca nuggets to feed the fuzzy headed creatures. Luckily, there was no spitting or biting — the kids were on their best behavior.

Overall, it was a wonderful fall afternoon! 10/10 would recommend!
